• Health Information Technology Specialist

  Brief Description of Duties to Be Performed: The USET Health Information Technology Specialist is responsible for providing ongoing IT support and guidance to USET Tribal Health Program Support (THPS) to maximize THPS program effectiveness, especially in maintaining the USET

  Tribal Epidemiology Center Population Health Data Portal and other HIT systems for monitoring and communicating community health status.

  
  
  

  Minimum Requirements:  Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Public Health Informatics, Public Health, Epidemiology or Biostatistics preferred.  Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation or related occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.   Must have experience and understanding of the analysis and management of large datasets (preferable public health datasets) using SAS, SPSS, STATA, or other data analysis software.  Experience using Extensible Markup Language (XML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) programming and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) preferred.   Ability to travel and work irregular hours as necessary.

• USET Project Assistant

   

  Brief Description of Duties to Be Performed: The Project Assistant supports the United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc. (USET) - Tribal Health Program Support (THPS) staff with implementation of studies, reports, research projects, and initiatives aimed at meeting the scope of work of the THPS Departments and Programs. The work will require judgment, planning and project coordination in completing tasks.  Project Assistant will be under the general supervision of the Deputy Director - THPS, but will receive guidance from various THPS staff members based on project assignments. Incumbent is expected to carry out assigned project coordination with minimal instructions and/or guidance. 

   
  

  Minimum Requirements:  Associate Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; however, 3-4 years of experience in managing/coordinating a variety of health related projects will be considered as applicable; however, incumbent would be expected to become certified in project management within 1-year from date of employment.  Must have professional knowledge of epidemiology principals acquired through advanced study and/or training.  Must possess excellent analytical abilities and verbal/written communication, organization, and presentation skills.  Applicants may be required to submit documented writing ability.  Demonstrated ability to exercise independent decision-making and the ability to communicate with counterpart staff in other agencies and tribal entities.  Cultural sensitivity/ability to work within the customs and traditions of various tribal groups  .Must exhibit demonstrated experience and high level of computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Learning Microsoft Project software would be expected.  Must be able to travel.

• USET Epidemiologist II

  Brief Description of Duties to Be Performed: The United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc. (USET) Epidemiologist is responsible for providing a broad knowledge of the principles, practices, and current developments related to public health epidemiology, including data collection/analysis/interpretation, chronic and/or infectious disease prevention and control for USET Tribal communities.  He/she provides support to the Senior Epidemiologist by serving as a primary investigator and resource for current information related to chronic and/or infectious diseases and associated complications.    He/she  is responsible for assisting the Epidemiology Center fulfill the objectives of the USET multi-year Indian Health Service Epidemiology Center Cooperative Agreement and any additional grants or project awards USET receives related to epidemiology and disease surveillance.

   

  Minimum Requirements:  Minimum of a Masters Degree in Public Health with an emphasis in epidemiology and/or biostatistics from an accredited college or university that has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.  In lieu of a Masters in Public Health, job experience in epidemiology and/or biostatistics would be considered.  Minimum of 5 or more years of experience working as an Epidemiologist.  A PhD in epidemiology or biostatistics will suffice in lieu of 5 or more years of epidemiology work experience. Strong knowledge, skills and abilities related to SAS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Access software and ability to learn new software applications quickly.

  Brief Description of Duties to Be Performed: The THPS Assistant Director has a broad scope of authority and responsibility for directing the operations of the USET Tribal Health Program Support.  Under administrative direction, the incumbent plans, organizes, directs and manages health programs for the benefit of USET member Tribes.  He/she assists the Director-Tribal Health Program Support in developing and implementing the department strategic plan, acts as the Director in his/her absence and performs related duties as assigned.  The incumbent will supervise the THPS support professional, technical and administrative staff.

   

  Minimum Requirements: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Public Health or Health Administration or closely related health field obtained from an accredited college or university that has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.  Masters Degree in Public Health or Health Administration or closely related field is preferred.  Documented experience in a paid health-related position will be considered in lieu of a degree.  Minimum of five (5) years experience working with Tribal health programs including federal and state laws and regulations governing the services and work of Tribal health care delivery systems; principles of healthcare services administration; principles of management analysis and organizational design sufficient to analyze recommend, develop and evaluate programs, policies and organizational structures; practices of healthcare service advocacy; fiscal management, budget administration and control.  Must possess excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.  Must be computer literate and proficient.
