Environmental responsibilities under NEPA and other authorities have been delegated by 24 CFR 58 to local and tribal governments for many HUD programs, such as CDBG, HOME, NSP, TCAP, subsidized and public housing. The assessment process offers an opportunity to promote sustainability in project design & implementation. APHIS Introduces new Tool to Promote Transparency and Collaboration with Stakeholders Recognizing that Web 2.0 technologies are increasingly relied on by stakeholders as a means of conducting business, APHIS has developed a new tool to allow for a greater exchange of ideas online. Tell APHIS http://tellaphis.usda.gov/ is a new internet site that allows APHIS to post questions or concepts to the site and use targeted email and new media tools such as Twitter, to alert stakeholders to the new information and ask for their input. Among the features Tell APHIS provides are: • The ability for stakeholders to post feedback or ideas and see the feedback of others, • Allow for stakeholder voting on other stakeholder ideas, • Allow APHIS to gather informal feedback and input prior to pursuing new policies or programs, • Allow APHIS to quickly see feedback on multiple topics at one time • Increased transparency with all stakeholders The first question to be posted to the Tell APHIS site, which will be available on the APHIS home page at www.aphis.usda.gov, is seeking to gain ideas, suggestions, or input on what tools or mechanisms the Agency should use to share information about animal disease traceability. We encourage you to visit the site often, as topics will change, to tell us what you think and see what other stakeholders are saying.
