The newly-announced funding will be distributed through the EPA’s Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving (EJCPS) Program ($30 million) and the Environmental Justice Government-to-Government (EJG2G) Program ($70 million).
The EJCPS Program will provide funding directly to community-based nonprofit organizations and partnerships of such organizations to address environmental and public health issues at the local level. Awards may fund projects for up to three years and up to $500,000.
The EJG2G program will provide funding to partnerships between community-based organizations and governments, including $20 million earmarked for partnerships with federally recognized Tribal Nations and $10 million for partnerships with U.S. territories and Tribal Nations in remote areas. Awards may fund projects for up to three years and up to $1 million.
Both programs are encouraging applicant projects addressing climate change, disaster resiliency, emergency preparedness, rural areas, and those including health impact assessments.
Projects are expected to begin around October 1, 2023, and proposal packages should be submitted on or before April 10, 2023.
