Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Disease Peer Learning Webinar Series
The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) invites you to join us for a FREE webinar series that will build on the Tribes and Tribal organization's ability to address emerging and re-emerging infectious disease threats and share best practices for preventing and controlling infectious diseases.
As the pandemic began, Gallup Indian Medical Center health system leaders applied early planning and mitigation actions to collaborate with multiple organizations and individuals to convert four Gallup hotels into temporary shelters to quarantine the people who didn’t have another place to shelter on their own safely, those exposed to the coronavirus and were awaiting test results, and those recovering from COVID-19. During this webinar, participants will learn how mitigation planning to address overcapacity due to surges in patient volumes can improve health status, wellbeing, productivity, and quality of care.
For more information or if you have suggestions for webinar topics, please contact Audrianna Marzette at amarzette@nihb.org.
Who should attend? The intended audience for this webinar is physicians, nurses, pharmacists, health educators, other clinicians, and public health professionals interested in setting up a temporary quarantine and isolation housing to prevent the spread of COVID-19

Please join the Region 2 National Preparedness Division in partnership with Americares for a webinar on social reinsertion.
A global emergency, such as the current COVID 19 pandemic, can affect people on many levels.
Faced with the challenge of resuming ordinary social practices, while there is still a risk of contagion, many people may experience intense fear of leaving their homes, known as "The Cabin Syndrome." Initially, staying at home could be experienced as being “in prison,” however, with the passage of time, it has become for many a refuge that they fear leaving. Faced with this challenge, there are measures that can be taken to reduce this fear without abandoning proper precautionary and personal protection practices.

Join the National Indian Health Board for the third webinar of the Enhancing Tribal Environmental Health Programs Engagement in COVID-19 Response Webinar Series. This webinar series will strengthen environmental health networks in Indian Country, foster a learning community, and aid in creating environmental protocols and guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal is to build on Tribes and Tribal organization’s capabilities to address environmental and human health impacts from the virus that causes COVID-19.
Disinfecting high-touch surfaces at community facilities is important for protecting community members and staff from exposure to COVID-19. Effective disinfection of these surfaces requires choosing products registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. But what happens when there is a misuse and overuse of disinfectants as a result of heightened concerns about SARS-CoV-2 transmission. This webinar explains potential health effects associated with exposure to disinfectants and identifies safer substitutions for common disinfectants that have lower risks of long-term adverse health effects.
Who should attend? Tribal environmental health specialists, environmental technicians, environmental engineers, health educators and CHRs, and other Tribal public health professionals interested in identifying safer disinfectants and disinfection practices and reducing over-use and exposure.
For questions, contact Audrianna Marzette, Project Coordinator, Public Health Policy and Programs, at amarzette@nihb.org.
