Long Island Indigenous Perspectives Canoe Tour

Moskehtu Consulting Presents “Long Island Indigenous Perspective Paddle Tour at Conscience Point hosted by the Southampton History Museum.

Join us on a paddle tour guided by Chenae Bullock who will cover oral Indigenous history, Indigenous plant identificationindigenous life-ways, and Indigenous songs.

Indigenous History is so interconnected and rich throughout our waterways, today more than before people are very interested in learning not only more about our history but our continued existence. What better way to experience this journey than on the water on a tour guided by Indigenous peoples of these waterways.

Conscience Point is the known for being the landing place where the Shinnecock people made contact with the first English colonist who arrived in Southampton in June of 1640.

We encourage you to bring family and friends to experience this unique opportunity to paddle with local Indigenous people and learn their perspective about their homelands, waterways, and contemporary way of life.

What to bring:

Canoe or Kayak, Paddles, Life vests, Dry Bag, Sunscreen; Bug Spray, Hat, Sunglasses, We ask paddlers to arrive at between 8:00am-8:20am to be prepared to unload vessels and gather as a group before we launch.

Participants can bring their own canoe or kayak, or at checkout you can rent a kayak provided by East End Explorer. If bringing your own vessel, please also bring your own paddles and life vests and everyone please bring sunscreen, hats, etc. There is no extra fee for bringing your own vessel. And note that no motorized boats are allowed.

General Admission for everyone 13 and over is $40

12 and under are FREE

Rentals of Single Kayaks are $75 each

Rentals of Tandem Kayaks are $110 each

Rentals of Stand Up Paddle Boards are $90 each

Paddlers are asked to arrive by 8am so that vessels can be offloaded, and everyone can be ready to hit the water at 9am.

All paddlers will be required to fill out a general liability waiver upon arrival.

No motorized vessels are permitted on this tour. If you are bringing your own watercraft, please keep this in mind. Preferred vessles, are kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards.
