U.S. Forest Service Consultation on Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

The U.S. Forest Service is hosting two tribal consultations on the opportunities and funding in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for Tribal Nations on April 20 and April 21, 2022, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. EDT. For more information, please view the Dear Tribal Leader Letter.

 

Forest Service leadership and subject matter experts from the National Forest System and State & Private Forestry will share information and seek input from Tribal leaders to inform early planning decisions.

In addition to joining one or both of the sessions, written comments may be submitted to
SM.FS.otrtribalcon@usda.gov by April 30, 2022.

 

Day 1 – Tribal focused programs (register for Day 1)
• Community Wildfire Defense Grants
• Firewood Banks (not specifically called out but interest expressed)
• Temporary Water Crossing Structures
• Hazardous Fuels Reduction under TFPA
• Restoration work under Good Neighbor and TFPA
• Recreation Sites
• Reverse 911 program

Day 2 – Wildfire Risk Reduction/Restoration Programs (register for Day 2)
• Wildfire Risk Reduction Implementation: Prescribed Fire / Cultural Burning; Pre-commercial Thinning/Harvesting/Mastication and Biomass Removal
• Hazardous Fuels Reduction under TFPA
• Burned area recovery
• Water quality and fish passage
• Restoration Work under Good Neighbor and TFPA
