DESCRIPTION:February 9\, 2023\, from 4:00 pm -5:00 pm Eastern\nWritten comments due by Febrary 24\, 2023\, at 5:00 pm Eastern\nRegistration \nFederal Register :: Center for State\, Tribal\, Local\, and Territorial Support (CSTLTS)\, CDC/ATSDR Tribal Consultation Session \nPurpose: The purpose of the consultation meeting is to advance CDC/ATSDR support for and collaboration with American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) tribal nations and to improve the health of AI/AN people by pursuing goals that include assisting in eliminating health disparities faced by tribal nations; ensuring that access to critical health and human services and public health services is maximized to advance or enhance the social\, physical\, and economic status of AI/AN people; and promoting health equity for all AI/AN people and communities. To advance these goals\, CDC/ATSDR conducts government-to-government consultations with elected tribal officials or their authorized representatives. The tribal consultation is intended to provide interested parties with an opportunity to discuss their public health priorities that may affect tribal nations. Consultation is an enhanced form of communication that emphasizes trust\, respect\, and shared responsibility. It is an open and free exchange of information and opinion among parties that leads to mutual understanding. \nMatters to be Considered: CDC/ATSDR is hosting this meeting to hold consultation with federally recognized tribal nations to receive input and guidance on strengthening relationships during the implementation of the CDC Moving Forward Initiative. SUMMARY:CDC Listening Session on Framework for Program Evaluation in Public Health
DESCRIPTION:CDC is refreshing its Framework for Program Evaluation in Public Health in honor of its upcoming 25th anniversary. CDC needs input from intended user groups about what aspect of this framework have worked well and what may need adjusting so it can be refreshed in a manner that continues to serve the evaluation and public health field. Recognizing that the applicability and utility of this framework may differ across contexts\, CDC is hosting a listening session on February 22\, 2023 from 2:30-4:00PM ET to hear from individuals who are familiar with planning and conducting evaluations with American Indian or Alaska Native communities. \nRepresentatives of CDC’s Program Performance and Evaluation Office will open the session with a brief overview of the effort to refresh this framework and participants will move into two breakout rooms to share their experiences with and input on this framework. One breakout room will include evaluators who are from or conduct evaluations with American Indian or Alaska Native communities. The second room will include project officers\, evaluators\, and other representatives of CDC and other federal agencies who work with individuals who engage in evaluation with American Indian or Alaska Native communities. \nIf you are interested and available to participate\, please register here. DESCRIPTION:Join the FCC Tribal Workshop to be hosted by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians in Solvang\, California on February 27\, 2023. The workshop will be conducted at the Craft House at Corque (429 Alisal Road\, Solvang\, California 93463). \nThis event is designed to provide information that will help Tribal Nations identify and evaluate opportunities to develop more robust broadband infrastructure and services in Tribal communities. DESCRIPTION:February 27\, 2023 at 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm Eastern\nRegister \nDear Tribal Leader Letter \nConsultation Materials: Draft Department Manual (DM) Chapter on Indigenous Knowledge \nThe Department of the Interior (DOI) seeks input from Tribal Leaders\, Alaska Native Corporation Leaders\, and Native Hawaiian Community Leaders\, on the development of a policy to respect\, and equitably promote the inclusion of\, Indigenous Knowledge in the Department’s decision making\, program implementation\, and other activities. This policy will guide the Department’s Bureaus and Offices. \nAt the White House Tribal Nations Summit in November 2021\, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) issued a memorandum recognizing the importance of Indigenous Knowledge and committing to elevating its role in federal scientific and policy processes and creating an interagency working group to develop government-wide guidance. \nIn 2022\, OSTP\, CEQ\, and the White House Domestic Policy Council conducted several Tribal consultations and listening sessions\, received written comments\, and held individual meetings to gather input for the development of government-wide guidance\, which was issued on November 30\, 2022. The Department reviewed the feedback received by OSTP and CEQ and incorporated it into the attached draft Indigenous Knowledge policy. If you have already commented during the OSTP and CEQ process\, you do not need to provide duplicate comments for this consultation. \nThey are seeking input on the following: \n\nHow would you like to work with the Department to ensure that Indigenous Knowledge properly informs Departmental policies\, programs\, research\, and decision making? What challenges do you foresee? How can we structure our actions to address your concerns and interests?\nHow can the Department work with you to identify appropriate knowledge holders and to obtain appropriate consent for the inclusion of Indigenous Knowledge?\nHow can the Department work with you to value and protect this knowledge? What ethical considerations should guide the Department’s efforts?\nFor which specific federal laws\, regulations\, policies\, or research/scientific processes can Indigenous Knowledge inform the Department’s decision making? How should Indigenous Knowledge be included in these authorities and processes?\n\nPlease register in advance.
