SUMMARY:National Culvert Removal\, Replacement\, and Restoration Grants FY 2023 – FY 2026: General Overview Webinar
DESCRIPTION:July 15 at 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm Eastern\nRegister \nThe U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will host a webinar to assist applicants with applying to the National Culvert Removal\, Replacement\, and Restoration Grant Program (also referred to as the Culvert Aquatic Organism Passage (AOP) program). See Culvert AOP Program Website (FHWA) for more information. \nThe Bipartisan Infrastructure Law established the Culvert AOP Program and provides $196 million per year\, over five years (from FY2022 to FY2026) for grants to replace\, remove\, and repair culverts or weirs that would meaningfully improve or restore fish passage for anadromous fish. In the first year of the program\, DOT awarded $195\,877\,358 to 59 applications from Tribal\, State\, and local governments to advance improvements at 169 locations nationwide. The FY 2023 – FY 2026 Notice of Funding covers funds available for FY 2023 through 2026\, along with any unused funds from FY 2022. \nThe “How to Apply for National Culvert Removal\, Replacement\, and Restoration Grants FY 2023 – FY 2026: General Overview” webinar is intended to provide an overview of updates to the Culvert AOP Program for FY 2023 – FY 2026\, provide applicants with knowledge for applying to program\, and clarify any questions associated with the application process. This webinar is free and open to the public. It is intended for a broad range of attendees\, including representatives of organizations eligible to receive funds under the Culvert AOP program\, which are States\, units of local governments\, and Tribal Nations.

SUMMARY:DOT "Telling Your Story" Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:DOT is hosting a two-part webinar series to help communities use data to effectively tell their stories in planning\, development\, and applying for DOT grants. \nPart 1 of the webinar series will be held on Monday\, July 22\, 2024\, at 3:00 PM ET. The webinar will focus on how to identify and describe a project and its goals\, identify users of the infrastructure or system\, and determine the project’s impact area. Participants will receive step-by-step information and presenters will use examples to illustrate each of the concepts in the planning\, project development\, and/or grant application process. The webinar will conclude with a brief Q&A session. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the DOT Navigator. \nPart 2 of the webinar series will be held on Thursday\, August 15\, 2024\, at 3:00 PM ET. The webinar will introduce participants to DOT’s Equitable Transportation Community (ETC) Explorer tool and provide detailed information on how to use the tool to map a project area\, identify how a community is experiencing disadvantage\, and evaluate project benefits to a community. This information will build on the content presented during Part 1 of the webinar series. Participants are encouraged to register for both or review the Part 1 materials before attending Part 2. It also removed references to terms such as structurally deficient\, functionally obsolete\, and sufficiency rating. These updates aligned the TTFBP terminology for bridge conditions with the terminology used for State departments of transportation in the Federal-aid highway program. This change established a consistent terminology for classifying and referring to bridge conditions. \nEligible applicants are limited to federally recognized Tribes. Eligible uses include planning (including safety inspection of in-service bridges)\, design\, engineering\, preconstruction\, construction\, and inspection of new or replacement Tribal transportation facility (TTF) bridges\, the replacement\, rehabilitation\, seismic retrofit\, painting\, calcium magnesium acetate or sodium acetate/formate application\, sodium acetate/formate (or other environmentally acceptable\, minimally corrosive anti-icing and deicing composition)\, and implementation of any countermeasure\, including scour countermeasures\, for TTF bridges classified as in poor condition\, having a low load capacity\, or needing highway geometric improvements\, including multiple-pipe culverts. \nThe TTFBP has about $200 million each fiscal year\, FY22 thru FY26. The federal cost-share is 100 percent\, both for preliminary engineering (PE) and construction funding bridge applications. Tribal applicants are not required to provide a local match regardless of bridge ownership.
