SUMMARY:Tribal Nations Plant and Animal Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Training
DESCRIPTION:Please consider joining us for the free 2½ day Tribal Nations Plant and Animal Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Training\, in Miami\, Florida at the Miccosukee Hotel on September 9th\, 2025.  \nTribal Nation program personnel are eligible for travel reimbursement including airfare\, ride share\, and host hotel accommodations. \nThe training hosts are USDA\, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)\, the Southeast American Indian Studies Program\, and the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida. This training will promote awareness of plant and animal health threats that could impact tribal lands and agriculture and emphasize the importance of developing Tribal Nation animal and plant health incident emergency response plans. \nTraining participants will learn about: \n\nUSDA APHIS programs and services;\nLivestock and wildlife diseases;\nPlant pests and diseases;\nAgency surveillance and emergency response;\nUSDA Emergency Support Functions; and\nAnimal and plant health funding opportunities\n\nAgenda topics include overviews and updates on: \n\nWild bird highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI)\, New World Screwworm\, African Swine Fever (ASF)\, Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)\, and other animal diseases;\nAPHIS programs – Veterinary Services (VS)\, Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ)\, Animal Care (AC)\, and Wildlife Services (WS);\nSub-agency programs – National Rabies Management Program\, National Feral Swine Damage Management Program\, National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program (NADPRP)\, and Plant Pest and Disease Management and Prevention Program (PPDMPP); and\nIf available\, Tribal Nation programs and projects.\n\nThe target audience is Tribal Nation personnel in agriculture\, wildlife\, natural resources\, forestry\, animal control\, all-hazards emergency management\, and other related Tribal enterprises. \nFor reimbursement\, airfare and hotel must be booked through the travel point of contact. \nTravel funding is limited and is reserved on first-come basis for new training participants\, up to two representatives per Tribal Nation. DESCRIPTION:The USDA Tribal Advisory Committee will be convening to deliberate on advice and guidance for the Secretary on matters relating to Tribal and Indian affairs. The committee is authorized to meet under the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (the 2018 Farm Bill) and operates in compliance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act.  \n\n\n\nMembers of the public may register to hear these deliberations and/or to provide public comment to the Tribal Advisory Committee. SUMMARY:Listening Session: Tribal Priorities for Future Partnerships with Forest Service
DESCRIPTION:Register here: https://www.zoomgov.com/meeting/register/Dl-8XJjzQq6pkoRwHmlcOw \n\n\n\nThe Intertribal Timber Council (ITC)\, in partnership with the USDA Forest Service is hosting a virtual Listening Session to hear from Tribes and US Tribal timber industry regarding Tribal priorities\, concerns and questions relating to future partnership opportunities with Forest Service. Tribes have managed timber lands and stewarded lands since time immemorial\, including the lands that exist on their present-day reservations and adjacent National Forests. Collaboration and partnership with Tribes are an integral component to management of National Forest lands. Tribal foresters bring essential experience and critical knowledge to sustainable forest management within their territories and their traditional homelands\, including adjacent National Forest lands. \n\n\n\nIntertribal Timber Council will work with Forest Service to provide available updates on implementation of EO14225\, partnership opportunities between Tribes and Forest Service\, the Explore Act\, and any relevant updates relating to implementation of Secretarial Memo 1078-015. The listening session will be an opportunity to discuss Tribal priorities with respect to Forest Service implementation of administration directives\, identify questions Tribes may have\, and foster communication between Tribes and Forest Service in advance of upcoming UDSA planned consultation sessions. \n\n\n\nTribal leaders\, foresters and tribal forestry staff and their partners are encouraged to attend this virtual listening session. This session is intended for Tribes to share their priorities\, interests and questions with Forest service to discuss opportunities for cross-jurisdictional partnership (including shared stewardship) addressing workforce capacity\, timber industry infrastructure and sustainable forest management.
