DESCRIPTION:June 4 at 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Eastern\nRegister \nDuring the 42nd Annual NAFOA Conference\, the Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office (LPO) Director Jigar Shah shared with attendees an overview of the recent conditional commitment for a loan guarantee to the Viejas Microgrid and/or microgrid projects for high-load centers like gaming\, hospitality\, and retail facilities — can be great candidates for the Tribal Energy Financing Program. \nTo follow up on the announcement\, NAFOA will host a webinar with the Department of Energy on Tuesday\, June 4\, from 1-2 p.m. EDT.  Members of the Tribal Energy Finance Program team will share more about how solar-plus-storage and microgrid projects can address the needs of Tribal Nations’ high-load facilities\, how LPO would work with Tribal Nations on such projects\, and answer questions about the topics.

These sessions are designed for NAP members working in philanthropy and will focus on how philanthropy can operate differently to center Indigenous perspectives and values. Through these sessions\, NAP is passing the mic to individuals\, Tribes\, and Indigenous non-profits who are experts in their respective fields. In a celebration of solidarity and liberation\, June’s session shares this platform with our partners at ABFE. \nABFE is central to a movement of philanthropic entities\, donors\, and non-profits to improve outcomes for Black communities and the country. Their mission has prioritized Black communities through their professional development and technical assistance. They are an unwavering voice highlighting the urgency of diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in philanthropy.
