SUMMARY:Awareness to Action Domestic Violence Conference
DESCRIPTION:The 2nd annual Awareness to Action Domestic Violence Conference will be held November 5th-7th\, 2024\, at the Casino del Sol in Tucson\, Arizona. The conference is hosted by the Pascua Yaqui Prosecutor’s Office. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s Sewa U’usim program is sponsoring a resource fair\, bringing together providers\, advocacy organizations\, and community groups to provide resources and information to attendees. There is no registration fee for this event! \nThis conference is designed for professionals with expertise in domestic violence prevention\, including victim advocates\, prosecutors\, law enforcement officers\, social workers\, judges\, court personnel\, and others working in related fields. The conference will place a special emphasis on the ways in which Domestic Violence impacts Native communities and victims. However\, all are welcome to attend.  Everyone knows someone who has been affected by domestic violence. Our goal is to raise awareness about domestic violence issues and continue the fight against violence in our communities. \nThis year’s agenda will include discussions on the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act as it relates to restored Tribal jurisdiction. The conference will also cover topics such as domestic and family violence\, victim advocacy\, trauma-informed care\, criminal case processing\, and legal updates specific to Tribal communities.  \n  \nThere are two registration options:  \n\nIn-Person Registration: for those who are able to join us in person. \nOnline Only Registration: for those who are only able to attend virtually. \n\nBoth registrations include access to all conference materials and sessions through the online Whova app.
