SUMMARY:Native Farm Bill Coalition: Post-Election Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 election brought significant change to the federal landscape. As the dust continues to settle\, the Native Farm Bill Coalition remains confident that Indian Country is in a good position to advance major priorities in the upcoming Farm Bill. \nWith Republicans taking control of the executive\, the Senate\, and likely the House of Representatives\, 2025 may offer a better chance to break the gridlock that has stalled the Farm Bill reauthorization. \nThe House Agriculture Committee’s version of the Farm Bill\, which includes 46 Tribal provisions\, including making the 638 FDPIR pilot program permanent\, could serve as the starting point for negotiations in the 119th Congress. Senator John Boozman\, who will likely chair the Senate Agriculture Committee\, has previously stated his support for the House Farm Bill provisions. While there is still work to be done to refine the House language and advocate for the inclusion of additional Tribal priorities\, Indian Country is in a good place with the Farm Bill. \nThe conclusion of the election provides a clear path forward for planning and advocacy. Throughout the last two years\, we have focused on building broad\, bipartisan relationships\, and we are confident in our ability to navigate the 119th Congress. We look forward to educating new lawmakers and working collaboratively to advance Indian Country’s priorities in the Farm Bill. \n  \nPost-Election Webinar: November 19 at 1 p.m. ET \nJoin us for a post-election webinar to learn more about how the 2024 election results impact the Native Farm Bill Coalition and the likely path for a Farm Bill in 2025.

SUMMARY:Native Lands and Sacred Places
DESCRIPTION:For many\, the concept of “Land Back” might seem daunting\, misunderstood\, or relegated as a frightening concept outside of philanthropy’s goals or resources. However\, these views are short-sighted and overlook the deeper significance of the movement. The movement goes beyond ownership. Land\, its use\, and the honoring of sacred places are foundational to community and must be protected on behalf of our future ancestors. “Land Back” is about preserving the planet’s biodiversity\, revitalizing languages\, maintaining traditions\, and expanding cultures. Across the globe\, the work of “Land Back” looks different\, but the common goal is to restore justice\, sovereignty\, and secure bright Indigenous futures. These calls must be bolstered\, unified\, and acknowledged. \nJoin Native Americans in Philanthropy on Thursday\, November 21 at 1:00 pm ET for a dynamic discussion galvanizing civil rights\, activism\, and community engagement that incorporates traditional knowledge and practices in offering a model for resilience and sovereignty. Featuring Pua Case (Kānaka Maoli)\, Tanya Ruka (Māori)\, Natali Segovia (Quechua)\, and Dr. Laura Harjo (Mvskoke)\, our panel of Indigenous leaders have fought to protect Native lands and rights\, both in the courtroom and on the frontlines. Additionally\, we will explore how leaders are integrating technology and innovative strategies to shape the future of their communities\, how they’re structured\, and honoring the legacy of those who have come before us. \nRegister for the event
