DESCRIPTION:July 15 at 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm Eastern\nRegister \nThe U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will host a webinar to assist applicants with applying to the National Culvert Removal\, Replacement\, and Restoration Grant Program (also referred to as the Culvert Aquatic Organism Passage (AOP) program). See Culvert AOP Program Website (FHWA) for more information. \nThe Bipartisan Infrastructure Law established the Culvert AOP Program and provides $196 million per year\, over five years (from FY2022 to FY2026) for grants to replace\, remove\, and repair culverts or weirs that would meaningfully improve or restore fish passage for anadromous fish. In the first year of the program\, DOT awarded $195\,877\,358 to 59 applications from Tribal\, State\, and local governments to advance improvements at 169 locations nationwide. The FY 2023 – FY 2026 Notice of Funding covers funds available for FY 2023 through 2026\, along with any unused funds from FY 2022. \nThe “How to Apply for National Culvert Removal\, Replacement\, and Restoration Grants FY 2023 – FY 2026: General Overview” webinar is intended to provide an overview of updates to the Culvert AOP Program for FY 2023 – FY 2026\, provide applicants with knowledge for applying to program\, and clarify any questions associated with the application process. FEMA’s Interagency Coordination Division (ICD) originally began the NDRF version 3 update in 2021 before strategically pausing at the end of 2022 to align with other ongoing recovery priorities. In February 2024\, the effort began again\, specifically focused on improving the following five issue areas that partners have identified as important areas for updating – recovery scope\, roles and responsibilities\, capacity and resources\, planning\, and data metrics. \nTribal Nations can submit their comments and any questions via email with the subject line “NDRF – Written Comments” to fema-tribal@fema.dhs.gov. DESCRIPTION:Dear Tribal Leader:\nI write to invite you to the 2024 Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Annual Regional Tribal Consultations that will be held across the country. The Regional Consultations provide regional forums for Tribes to share their views\, concerns\, and recommendations with HHS officials on health and human services priorities. We hope the consultations will provide a venue for two-way conversations between Tribal leaders and HHS officials. \nAs in previous years\, Regional Consultations will also include opportunities for Tribes to meet one-on-one with regional leadership. These sessions are intended to provide Tribes with time to discuss their specific health and human service issues with HHS officials. In March 2024\, HPAI A(H5N1) virus was detected in dairy cattle. To date\, there have been three human cases of HPAI A(H5N1) virus infection identified in dairy farm workers in the United States. The risk to the public from HPAI A(H5N1) viruses is low; however\, people who have job-related or recreational exposure to infected birds or animals\, including dairy cattle\, are at greater risk of HPAI A(H5N1) virus infection. During this COCA Call\, presenters will give an update on the current outbreak in the United States and current CDC surveillance and monitoring efforts. But little is known about their impact on their surrounding economies. Recent research by CICD shows how Tribally owned casinos affect nearby businesses. \nFederal contracting is a rapidly expanding source of revenue for tribes and Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and a sustainable source of income for Native Hawaiian Organizations (NHOs). Recent CICD research finds that tribal enterprises\, ANCs\, and NHOs—collectively known as Native entity enterprises—regularly subcontract to non-Native small businesses. \nIn this webinar\, CICD researchers will present their findings on how gaming and federal contracting impact local businesses and economies. DESCRIPTION:July 22-23 at 9:30 am – 6:00 pm Eastern\nExam date: July 24 at 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Eastern \nRegister by July 12\, 2024\nOLE Notification Deadline: July 19\, 2024 \nThe Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)\, Office of Justice Services (OJS) issues Special Law Enforcement Commissions (SLECs) to Tribal\, federal\, state\, and local full-time certified law enforcement officers who will serve without compensation from the Federal government. This process allows BIA to obtain active assistance in the enforcement of federal criminal statutes and federal hunting and fishing regulations in Indian country. One of the criteria for receiving a SLEC is attendance at the Criminal Jurisdiction in Indian Country (CJIC) course and passage of an exam at the end of the class with a score of 70% or higher. Successful completion of this class will also satisfy one of the BIA’s criteria for tribal officers seeking to meet BIA Basic Police Officer training certification requirements. The webinar is restricted to law enforcement officers who are deemed eligible by BIA to attend. There is no cost for attending this webinar. \nParticipation is mandatory for all sessions. The online training is scheduled for July 22 and 23 from 9:30 am – 6:00 pm EDT each day. Important Note: GROUP VIEWING IS NOT PERMITTED. In order to receive credit for participation\, attendees must access this webinar training event individually on their computers/personal devices. Attendees will not receive credit for participation if they access this meeting via audio only (dialing the WebEx Webinar phone number to hear but not view the webinar). Attendees need to view the slides for each presentation. The next consultation is scheduled for July 22\, 2024 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm ET. Registration for the in-person consultation will be open in the INDICO system until July 17\, 2024. Native Psychological Brilliance refers to the intelligence\, strengths\, balance\, innate resources\, and resilience of Native people. This no-cost telehealth series will be held on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 1:00 pm Central/2:00 pm Eastern. Each session will be one hour in length. \nWho should attend? The draft policy includes the requirements within President Biden’s Memorandum on Uniform Standards for Tribal Consultation released at the 2022 Tribal Summit. The draft also covers various divisions within NPS that work closely with Tribal Nations.
