Visit the training website to register for one of the classes. \nUnderstanding the Indian Child Welfare Act – $550.00\n\n\n\nThis three-day training provides participants with information about the basic legal requirements of the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978 (ICWA) and the practice issues involved with ICWA’s implementation. A brief history of U.S. Indian policy as it relates to Indian children and families sets the stage for an examination of the specific provisions of ICWA and practice tips for both Tribal and state social workers. Participants will also learn how to successfully integrate other federal and state policies with ICWA—such as the Adoption and Safe Families Act—and support developing tribal and state agreements and other systems changes. This training includes information about the recent Bureau of Indian Affairs ICWA regulations and guidelines. \nPositive Indian Parenting – $625.00 \nTheir most popular training\, Positive Indian Parenting (PIP) prepares Tribal and non-Tribal child welfare personnel to train American Indian and Alaska Native parents using a culturally specific approach. The materials presented during this training draw on the strengths of historic Indian child-rearing practices and blend traditional values with contemporary skills. Storytelling\, cradleboards\, harmony\, lessons of nature\, behavior management\, and the use of praise are discussed.

Training from medical to explosives awareness; instructor training to managing public information\, there is training available for all levels of Tribal government\, planning and response.\nUpon successful completion\, participants will be able to build more resiliency into Tribes across the country and receive training certifications. \nThere will be additional evening events including sessions with FEMA Regional Tribal Liaisons and FEMA Integrated Team Members\, Strategic National Stockpile Team information session\, an evening for networking to create a disaster compact for Tribal Nations CDP Alumni\, and an evening reserved for Tribal attendees to showcase their creativity and network.

If the crime occurred in Indian Country\, a National Park\, on a military base or other area where there is federal jurisdiction\, these young victims may be called to testify in federal court as victims and witnesses in a criminal case. The process can be intimidating or frightening for children. A federal statute\, 18 U.S.C. § 3509\, the Child Victims’ and Child Witnesses’ Rights statute\, provides protections for child witnesses during the investigation and during court proceedings. This webinar will address the protections provided in the Child Victims’ and Child Witnesses’ Rights statute\, the Crime Victims’ Rights Act and the Attorney General Guidelines for Victim and Witness Assistance. \nThis training is available to any interested federal\, state\, or tribal criminal justice or social service professional who works with child victims. There is no charge to attend this webinar. CLE will not be provided. \nThis training is a joint effort hosted by federal law enforcement agencies responding to violent crime in Indian Country. DESCRIPTION:August 6\, 2025 – Charles City\, VA – The Chickahominy Indian Tribe will join Native American friends and visitors from all over the country when they gather on the Chickahominy Tribal Grounds at 8200 Lott Cary Road\, Providence Forge\, Virginia 23140; September 27 & 28\, 2025 for their 73rd Fall Festival and Pow-Wow. On this historic occasion\, visitors will have an opportunity to experience Eastern Woodlands’ Indian culture with one of the Tribes that were here to make first contact with the settlers in 1607. Don’t miss this oportunity to join the Chickahominy people for a celebration of history and culture. \nGrounds will open at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday\, with the Saturday\, September 27th Grand Entry at 12:00 noon and Sunday\, September 28th Grand Entry at 1:00 p.m. The festival/Pow-Wow will feature Native American dancers\, drummers\, singers and cultural demonstrations. United States Armed Forces Veterans will be honored each day. \nKeith Colston\, Tuscarora/Lumbee\, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Host Drum is Lone Eagle Singers\, from Charles City\, Virginia. Chris Fortune\, Rappahannock\, will be the Arena Director. Keenan Stewart\, Chickahominy\, will be the Head Male Dancer. Morgan Richardson\, Chickahominy\, will be the Head Female Dancer. VEVITA Honor Color Guard\, Washington\, D.C.\, will be the Color Guard. The attending public will enjoy several cultural and traditional exhibits including historic displays and information from the Chickahominy Indian Tribe. Native American crafters from all over the United States will have jewelry\, pottery\, beadwork\, leather crafts\, and other authentic arts and crafts for sale. Food will be available and will feature Indian Tacos\, barbeque\, hamburgers\, hot dogs\, and fried fish\, as well as plenty of beverages\, ice cream\, and desserts. \nThe festival is open to the public. Admission is free\, donations will be accepted at the gate. Cash required for food and drink purchases. Plenty of free parking is available with golf cart transportation provided for disabled and senior citizens. Organizers suggest bringing lawn chairs or blankets. Personal canopies are prohibited. Pow-Wow etiquette will be followed. This session will be a combination of substantive lecture and interactive scenarios. \n\n\n\nThis training is available to any interested federal\, state\, or tribal criminal justice or social service professional who works with children in Indian country. There is no charge to attend this webinar. CLE will not be provided. \n\n\n\nThis training is a joint effort hosted by federal law enforcement agencies responding to violent crime in Indian Country.
