Prior to this she served for nine years as an Environmental Protection Specialist with the Portland Area Indian Health Service\, managing an interagency agreement with the EPA to reduce the health risks of pests and pesticides by educating and empowering communities to use Integrated Pest Management (IPM). While there she also served as the technical lead on a project to collect valuable data on children’s exposures to lead\, allergens\, pesticides\, and PCBs in Tribal childcare facilities. Holly is looking forward to sharing her experiences of environmental sampling in Tribal communities! \nRosalind Ground is a citizen of the Seneca Nation of Indians located on the Allegany Territory in western New York which is at the beginning of the Appalachian Mountains. It is about 70 miles south of Buffalo and about 10 minutes from the Pennsylvania border. She is an avid Buffalo Bills fan\, Go Bills! Rosalind has 7 grown children\, 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She received her A.S. degree from Erie County Community College in Science Laboratory Technology. The Construction Contracting course will provide information and guidance on how tribal governments may design and build projects under the authority of P.L. 93-638. The Contract Support Cost (CSC) course will include a brief overview of ISDEAA. A considerable portion of the agenda is dedicated to detailed and precise examples of CSC worksheets and calculations. The Single Audit course will include information on preparation and follow-up using OMB policy and compliance supplements. \nInterested participants are invited to enroll using the training link provided and registration is on a first-come basis. Participation is accepted up to the maximum capacity\, thereafter a waitlist is maintained. SUMMARY:APHIS Tribal Webinar: Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Update
DESCRIPTION:January 29 at 1:00 pm Eastern\nRegister \nWeb Join Link\nZoom Join Link \nAPHIS’ WS National Wildlife Disease Program (NWDP) currently conducts targeted wild bird surveillance activities in all four flyways (Atlantic\, Mississippi\, Central\, and Pacific) and investigations of morbidity/mortality events in wild birds. WS collected around 30\,000 samples in 49 states within those flyways during the 2022/2023 surveillance season. WS has collected around to date during the 2023/2024 surveillance season. To summarize\, WS is: \n\nCollaborating with 49 states for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) wild bird surveillance in all four flyways.\nThe 2022/2023 HPAI surveillance season collected 90+% of its targeted sample numbers and is currently collecting samples for the 2023/2024 surveillance season with over 14\,000 samples collected to date.\nHPAI has also been detected in over 200 mammals across Norther America\n\nDuring this webinar session\, they would like to take the time to update Tribal Nations on the current HPAI situation; the 2023/2024 wild bird HPAI surveillance program encourages feedback for future communication and potential avenues for continued collaboration with Tribal Nations. \nIf you have questions about the webinar\, don’t hesitate to contact ONTL Program Analyst Denise Salvetti at denise.salvetti@usda.gov or the ONTL Director Terry Clark at terry.w.clark@usda.gov.
