DESCRIPTION:Dear Tribal Leader:The Office of Assistant Secretary -Indian Affairs (IA)\, Office of Facilities\, Property and Safety Management (OFPSM)\, Division of Facility Management and Construction (DFMC)\, invites your participation in Tribal Listening Sessions as part of the effort to modernize correctional facility design guidance across IA\, specifically for the following guidelines: \n\n\n\n\nBIA Justice Detention Facilities Design Handbook\n\n\n\nBIA Justice Detention Facilities Space Criteria\n\n\n\nBIA Justice Detention Facilities Space Templates\n\n\n\n\nThe current Justice/Detention Facilities Design Handbook\, Space Criteria\, and Space Templates were last updated in 2011 and can be accessed at: https://www.bia.gov/as-ia/ofpsm/dfmc/info. Since that time\, detention operations\, building technologies\, Tribal justice system needs\, and national safety and regulatory requirements have continued to evolve. DESCRIPTION:Elder abuse is a widespread public health issue that often goes unreported due to the involvement of family members\, caregivers\, or other trusted individuals. This webinar will explore effective\, victim-centered approaches to elder abuse investigations that address the unique physical\, cognitive\, emotional\, and social needs of older adults while promoting safety\, accountability\, and healing. Participants will learn about the Elder Abuse Guide for Law Enforcement (EAGLE)\, a U.S. Department of Justice–supported initiative that provides practical strategies for interviewing older victims\, documenting evidence\, and strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration. The session will also highlight culturally responsive resources from the Native American Elder Justice Initiative (NAEJI)\, developed by the International Association for Indigenous Aging\, to support elder justice efforts in Tribal communities. \n\n\n\nThis training is available to all interested parties. SUMMARY:First Allies: Polly Cooper and the Oneida Indian Nation
DESCRIPTION:NMAI welcomes elders\, leaders\, and members of the Oneida Indian Nation to share with visitors the legacy of Polly Cooper\, an Oneida ancestor and icon. \n\n\n\nPolly Cooper was a hero to the American soldiers stationed at Valley Forge\, Pennsylvania\, during the Revolutionary War. She and other Oneidas traveled more than two hundred miles through the bitter cold during the winter of 1777–78 to deliver corn to General George Washington’s starving troops. \n\n\n\nWhile the rest of the Oneida relief party returned home\, Cooper stayed\, saying it was the Oneida’s duty to help their allies. Cooper refused payment for her contributions\, but oral tradition tells that she joined some of the soldiers’ wives\, including Martha Washington\, for window shopping in Philadelphia and admired a black shawl and bonnet in a shop window. The wives later had the shawl and bonnet purchased and\, a few weeks later\, a soldier delivered them both to Cooper. The bonnet was lost over time\, but the black shawl remains a treasured possession for Cooper’s descendants. \n\n\n\nLearn more about the Oneida Indian Nation with a presentation on Polly Cooper’s legacy\, along with dance performances\, food demonstrations\, and a short film. Visitors can also enjoy a curator-led tour of Nation to Nation: Treaties between the United States and American Indian Nations\, hands-on activities\, and more.

SUMMARY:Tribal Home Energy Rebates Update Information Session
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an informational update session for the High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebates (HEEHR) Program for Indian Tribes. This U.S. Department of Energy program\, formerly called the Tribal Home Energy and Appliance Rebate (THEAR) Program\, will distribute up to $218.5 million in grants for energy efficiency upgrades for Tribal homes. All federally-recognized Tribes and Alaska Native Corporations are eligible to receive formula awards from the program. The U.S. DOE recently released updated guidance for the program through Program Notice 26-3\, which reopened and extended the application deadline to December 11\, 2026. \n\n\n\nDuring this information session\, DOE will provide an overview of the revamped Tribal HEEHR program\, review Program Notice 26-3\, and cover associated program guidance changes. We will also discuss next steps\, level-set for moving forward\, and provide time for Questions & Answers. This session will provide helpful information for Tribes who have already applied to the program and currently have conditional awards\, Tribes that applied but do not have conditional awards\, and Tribes who have not yet applied. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to sharing program updates and continuing to work together to reduce energy costs for Tribal households.

DESCRIPTION:The Indian Health Service (IHS) Health Information Technology (IT) Modernization Program is hosting a Tribal Consultation and Urban Confer (TC/UC) session on Thursday\, August 6 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. ET via Zoom.   \n\n\n\nDuring the session\, tribal and urban Indian organizations (T/UIOs) will learn about the Roadmap to Cohorts and receive updates on PATH EHR implementation efforts. T/UIO leaders and representatives will also have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on ongoing implementation activities. \n\n\n\nThe tentative agenda for this session is as follows:  \n\n\n\n\nHealth IT Modernization Overview & Updates \n\n\n\nPilot Site Update \n\n\n\nRoadmap to Cohorts \n\n\n\nTribal and Urban Indian Organization Open Dialogue  \n\n\n\nUpcoming Engagement Opportunities \n\n\n\n\nPlease register by Wednesday\, August 5\, 2026\, by 5:00 p.m. ET for the TC/UC session.   \n\n\n\nAfter participants submit their registration\, we will review and confirm their tribal or urban affiliation. Once approved\, participants will receive a calendar invitation and meeting link via email the day before the session. \n\n\n\nOn behalf of the entire Program\, I look forward to our continued collaboration. Please reach out to Modernization@IHS.gov with questions or requests for more information.

Chief Sachem Anthony DeanStanton welcomes all of Rhode Island to join the Tribe in celebration and share in the traditionalfood\, singing\, and dancing. \n\n\n\nAll activities are held on the Narragansett Indian Reservation off Route 2 and old Mill Road inCharlestown RI. Gates open at 10:00 am both days. Admission is $10.00 for adults and $3.00for children.
