The Transcontinental Railroad program (TCRR) seeks to study\, engage\, and develop programming that tells the full story of this route. \nProgram background: In 2019\, via the Golden Spike NHP act\, Sec. 2205 of Public Law 116-9 (the Dingell Act) Subsection (c) the United States Congress charged the U.S. Department of the Interior\, National Park Service (NPS) with establishing a program that commemorates and interprets the Transcontinental Railroad. This new national program spans three NPS Regions (Regions 3\, 4\, & 5\, (Midwest) Regions 6\, 7\, & 8 (Intermountain\,) and Regions 8\, 9\, 10\, & 12 (Pacific West) as it follows the historic railway connecting Iowa to California at Golden Spike National Historical Park in Utah. \nHow to engage: As a federally recognized Tribal Nations  with connections to the railroad’s complex legacy\, they invite you and/or other Tribal representatives to join them in shaping the future of this program. Overall\, there remains a considerable amount of work to be accomplished\nby the CSCAG and IHS staff to implement a modified methodology. \nThe IHS is requesting input from all Tribal Leaders\, as the implementation of a modified\nmethodology to negotiate and pay CSC on expenditures of program income can have broad\nbudgetary implications for Tribes that receive direct services\, as well as compacting and\ncontracting Tribal Nations. \nDuring this Tribal Consultation\, they plan to convene three in-person Consultation sessions and\ntwo virtual Consultation sessions to allow multiple opportunities to provide feedback on the\nAgency’s proposals to calculate CSC related to expenditures of program income. The\nCSCAG’s charge includes providing advice and recommendations on the Indian Health Service\n(IHS) CSC policy\, as well as identifying priorities and issues for improvement. \nThe principles that have been agreed upon by CSCAG members are to take an approach with the\nbroadest applicability\, which aligns as much as feasible with the current CSC policy. During this\ntimeframe\, CSCAG members identified a few areas of agreement\, as well as a few areas for\nadditional discussion. Overall\, there remains a considerable amount of work to be accomplished\nby the CSCAG and IHS staff to implement a modified methodology. \nThe IHS is requesting input from all Tribal Leaders\, as the implementation of a modified\nmethodology to negotiate and pay CSC on expenditures of program income can have broad\nbudgetary implications for Tribes that receive direct services\, as well as compacting and\ncontracting Tribal Nations. \nDuring this Tribal Consultation\, they plan to convene three in-person Consultation sessions and\ntwo virtual Consultation sessions to allow multiple opportunities to provide feedback on the\nAgency’s proposals to calculate CSC related to expenditures of program income. Grant funding is available for: \n\nDevelopment and update of transportation safety plans\nData assessment\, improvement\, and analysis – identifying data needs\, improving crash data collection\, compiling other safety data\, or conducting safety studies\nSystemic Roadway Departure Countermeasures – streamlined access to specific low-cost safety improvements to address rural roadway departure crashes\nInfrastructure Improvements – Projects to address transportation safety needs on tribal transportation facilities.\n\nThe U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration is accepting applications for the Tribal HPP Program. The program\, funded by the President’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law\, will provide nearly $9 million in Fiscal Year 2024 to (1) an Indian Tribe or governmental subdivision of an Indian Tribe whose annual allocation of funding under the Tribal Transportation Program (TTP) is insufficient to complete the highest priority project of the Tribe\, or (2) to any Indian Tribe that has an emergency or disaster occur on a Tribal transportation facility that renders the facility impassible or unusable.  The Tribal HPP Program is a nationwide priority program modeled after the Indian Reservation Roads High Priority Projects Program (IRRHPP) and developed through negotiated rulemaking. The IRRHPP was formerly administered through regulations from 2005 through 2012.

The tour requires separate registration. \n  \n\n  \n \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nTribal Public Health Preparedness and Resilience is a Tribally-centered epidemiological approach to public health preparedness and resilience with the primary goal of strengthening the resilience of USET member Tribal Nations through public health strategies focused on the mitigation\, prevention\, and preparation phases of the disaster management cycle. The intention of the Task Force is an opportunity for Tribal Nations to work together and learn from one another on all public health preparedness topics and to break down the silos seen between health\, environmental\, and emergency management resources. \nWhat: Attend tours of the University of Miami Marine Campus\, Gordon Center\, and Medical Campus\, and participate in presentations about hurricanes. These tours will be led by experts from the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine\, Atmospheric\, and Earth Science and Miller School of Medicine. Participants will be provided demonstrations and simulations\, and future offerings/trainings will be discussed.
