These webinars are designed to give you a better insight into how APHIS is helping to protect U.S. and Tribal agricultural and natural resources—and citizens— from animal and plant disease and pest threats.\nThey invite you and your staff members to attend their next webinar session: “Avian Influenza and SARs-COV-2 Cervid Surveillance Projects” at April 10\, 2023\, at 1:00 pm Eastern. \nAPHIS’ Wildlife Services (W.S.) National Wildlife Disease Program (NWDP) currently conducts targeted wild bird surveillance activities in all four flyways (Atlantic\, Mississippi\, Central\, and Pacific) and investigations of morbidity/mortality events in wild birds.\nDuring 2022/2023 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) surveillance season: \n\nAPHIS partnered with 49 states and has collected around 30\,000 samples.\n90% of its targeted samples have been collected\, and the current surveillance season ends soon.\n\nSince November 2021\, the NWDP has also coordinated SARS-CoV-2 surveillance in cervid species. During the first surveillance season\, samples were collected from around 11\,000 white-tailed deer. DESCRIPTION:Project ECHO HCV/HIV/SUD Clinical Training\n\npresented by\nUSET Tribal Health Program Support\nDuring the pandemic\, Tribal Nations saw a rise in injectable drug use. This\, in turn\, caused a rise in the number of new Hepatitis C (HCV) and HIV infections. People who inject drugs (PWID) are at high risk for HIV and HCV infections if they use needles\, syringes\, or other drug injection equipment. Both of these infectious diseases are treatable and manageable with the right knowledge and tools at hand. \nLearning objectives: \n\nRecognize the importance of universal screening and universal treatment of HCV and HIV.\nExamine the epidemiology and prevalence of Hepatitis C\, HIV\, and Substance Use Disorder in relation to Indian Country – with an emphasis on the Nashville Area.\nDescribe the newest HCV and HIV antiviral treatments including indications and side effects.\nDescribe the newest Substance Use Disorder medicated assisted treatments including indications and side effects.\nLearn about the best practices in Indian Country for HCV\, HIV\, and Substance Use Disorder.\nEstablish a teleconferencing mentoring system for HCV\, HIV\, and Substance Use Disorder patients utilizing the ECHO model.\n\nDraft Agenda \nWhen? Given the expected Tribal interest in determining the best methodology for distribution of the additional funding\, the BIA will conduct the Tribal consultation sessions prior to making any final determination on how this will be accomplished.
