Since the inception of SDPI in 1998\, USET had served as a primary grantee in which most of the funding was passed through to twenty Tribal Nation sub-recipients. Beginning with the new 2023 open competition SDPI grant cycle\, USET will no longer be eligible to apply as a primary grantee. However\, all federally recognized Tribal Nations\, Urban Indian Health Programs and Indian Health Service operated facilities will be permitted to apply for the funding. A summary of eligibility is as follows: \n\nAn Indian health program operated by Tribal Nation or Tribal organization pursuant to a contract\, grant\, cooperative agreement\, or compact with the Indian Health Service (IHS) pursuant to the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act [25 U.S.C. 5321 et seq.].\nAn urban Indian health program operated by an urban Indian Organization pursuant to a grant or contract with the Indian Health Service pursuant to title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act [25 U.S.C. 1651 et seq.].\nIndian Health Service Units\n\nIn preparation\, the USET Tribal Health Program Support will hold a virtual training on September 9\, 2022\, 10:30 am – 11:30 am Central/11:30 am – 12:30 pm Eastern to brief all interested Federally Recognized Tribal Nations in the IHS Nashville Area about the new 2023 5-year grant cycle. \nBACKGROUND \nWhat is the SDPI Program? \nSDPI is a $150 million per year program that provides awards for diabetes treatment and prevention services. The IHS administers SDPI with programmatic oversight provided by the IHS Division of Diabetes Treatment and Prevention (DDTP). \nThe purpose of this program is to provide diabetes treatment and/or prevention activities and/or services (also referred to as “activities/services”) for AI/AN communities. Awardees will implement one SDPI Diabetes Best Practice (also referred to as “Best Practice”) and report data on the Best Practice’s Required Key Measure (RKM). Awardees may also implement other activities/services based on diabetes-related community needs and develop an evaluation plan. SUMMARY:USET OERM Virtual Workshops for Developing the Cyber Security Chapter of the Emergency Response Plan
DESCRIPTION:USET’s Office of Environmental Resource Management is hosting \n\n\n\n \nThrough a series of six workshops\, USET will assist member Tribal Nation Utility staff in developing a Cybersecurity Incident Action Plan (IAP). This IAP will supplement existing emergency preparedness plans and support cyberattack response activities. The workshop series will culminate with a table-top exercise to test and refine the IAPs developed.\nUSET is partnering with West Yost Associates\, a leader in water and wastewater cybersecurity\, to provide member Tribal Nations the latest insights and best practices to prevent\, detect\, respond\, and recover from cyber incidents.\nWhen: \nEach webinar will take place from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Eastern/1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Central\n\nWorkshop 1: Introduction & Overview – July 26\nWorkshop 2: Prepare for & Prevent Cyber Incidents – August 9\nWorkshop 3: Detect Cyber Incidents – August 16\nWorkshop 4: Respond to Cyber Incidents – August 23\nWorkshop 5: Recover from Cyber Incidents – September 20\nWorkshop 6: Virtual Table-Top Exercise – September 27\n\nWho should attend?\nUSET Tribal Nation Utility Leadership\, Emergency Managers and Operators in responsible charge are encouraged to attend.\nLearning Objectives:\nCyber incidents can compromise the ability of water and wastewater utilities to provide clean and safe water to customers\, erode customer confidence and result in financial and legal liabilities.
