DESCRIPTION:June 2 at 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm Eastern\nRegister \nOMB\, in coordination with HHS\, is consulting with Tribes on the President’s proposal to transition IHS funding from discretionary to mandatory beginning in FY 2025. The change in funding approach would involve use of a mandatory funding formula\, and the incremental growth of the IHS budget to approximately $44 billion by FY 2033.\nThe virtual consultation will take place on June 2 from 2:00 – 5:00pm ET. OMB has prepared a trio of discussion points for Tribal leader feedback that are set forth in the attached Dear Tribal Leader Letter. DESCRIPTION:The All of Us Research Program (run by the National Institutes of Health) aims to accelerate health research and medical breakthroughs to enable an era of precision medicine for all. All of Us is committed to ensuring the program reflects the diversity of the United States. DESCRIPTION:Dear Tribal Leader Letter \nJune 13-14\, 2023\nBlue Lake Casino and Hotel\n777 Casino Way\nBlue Lake\, CA 95525\nRegister here if you plan to attend the hearing in person. \nIn October 2020\, the Not Invisible Act of 2019 was signed into law—to increase coordination in identifying and combating violent crime within Indian lands and against Indians—in response to the longstanding crises of missing and murdered Indigenous people (MMIP) and human trafficking (HT). \nPursuant to section 4 of the act\, Attorney General Merrick B. Garland and I established the Not Invisible Act Commission (Commission)\, which consists of Federal and non-Federal members. More information on the Commission and its members can be found here. The Commission is required\, by October 2023\, to submit a final report to Congress\, the Attorney General\, and me with recommendations on how to improve intergovernmental coordination\, bolster resources\, and establish best practices for State/Tribal/Federal law enforcement to help combat this epidemic of violence. \nTo help achieve this requirement of section 4\, the Commission is holding national hearings to solicit public testimony at multiple locations to shape its final report recommendations on specific MMIP and HT topics. These hearings will provide a forum for law enforcement\, subject-matter experts\, organizations\, State/Tribal task forces\, advocates\, survivors/families\, and other stakeholders to offer testimony directly to the Commission in order to improve cross-jurisdictional communications\, increase access to resources\, and address other issues related to the MMIP and HT crises.\nPlease join the next Commission hearings—details are above. The OERM Lead Testing program has adopted the EPA 3 Ts program for Reducing Lead in Drinking Water in Schools and Child Care Facilities. This program was developed to help schools and child-care facilities to implement a voluntary program for reducing lead in drinking water. \nOur Lead Testing program promotes voluntary training\, testing of drinking water for lead\, and taking corrective action if problems are identified. For USET Member Tribal Nation participants\, OERM is offering assistance to conduct testing at Tribal schools and child-care facilities. USET will assist with sampling Tribal childcare facilities\, and will collect data such as sampling results and facility location on behalf of participating Member Tribal Nations.
