Our objective is to streamline operations while minimizing any potential impact on the quality of services provided to Tribes. To that end\, Indian Affairs -which includes the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)\, the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE)\, the Bureau of Trust Funds Administration (BTFA)\, and the Office of the Assistant Secretary-Indian Affairs seeks to engage directly with federally recognized Tribes to receive formal input on critical needs as we develop plans to implement operational improvements. Indian Affairs and other agencies within the U.S. Department of the Interior (Department) remain committed to fulfilling our responsibilities efficiently and effectively. On February 11\, 2025\, President Trump issued an Executive Order (EO) 14210 establishing the “Department of Government Efficiency” Workforce Optimization Initiative\, which aims to reform the Federal workforce to maximize efficiency and productivity. Under this directive\, each agency is required to develop an Agency Reorganization Plan. In support of this effort\, the Department is committed to receiving formal consultation feedback from Tribes regarding the EO and related topics. Multiple sessions are scheduled; all are hybrid unless otherwise noted. These materials are often located far from processing facilities\, and the high costs associated with transporting these materials from national forests to forest product facilities have historically hindered the implementation of crucial wildfire prevention strategies. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Hazardous Fuels Transportation Assistance program directly addresses this issue by offering incentives to offset transportation costs. By doing so\, the program aims to remove one of the significant barriers to effective hazardous fuel treatment\, thereby facilitating the broader implementation of wildfire prevention strategies. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo ensure that potential applicants have a clear understanding of the program and how to apply if they are eligible\, the NWTF will host a series of informational webinars with the Forest Service for attendees to learn about the program in detail\, including eligibility requirements\, application processes and the types of projects that qualify for assistance. This course will identify the primary mistakes made in staged crime scene cases and walk attendees through the pathway to build prosecutable homicide cases. This training will cover remediation activities from flushing to service line replacement. We encourage Tribal leaders\, health and environmental officials\, and educators to attend this training. \nLead is a naturally occurring heavy metal that is globally recognized as a substance that has serious health consequences if consumed\, especially for children. His duties include reviewing applications for sampling\, communicating with Public Water Systems and School Officials about results and follow-up\, and developing and implementing outreach strategies. He has been with the Program for 5 years since graduating from UMass Amherst with degrees in Marketing and Sport Management. \nDr. Jason R. Barrett is originally from Bobo\, MS\, a small farming community south of Clarksdale\, MS. He now resides in Starkville\, MS with his wife and four kids. Jason began his Mississippi State University Extension career as a graduate assistant in the Food and Fiber Center. Dr. Barrett went on to work for the Agricultural Economics Department as an Extension Associate and furthered his career as an Extension Instructor and then an Assistant Extension Professor with the Center for Government and Community Development (GCD). Now\, he is an Associate Extension Professor and Interim Director with the Mississippi Water Resources Research Institute where he specializes in public utilities (water and wastewater)\, private well education and screening\, and leading the Mississippi Well Owner Network. He also leads the Lead Testing in Schools and Childcare Centers Program for Mississippi. Other research interests include the finance and economic development factors associated with water and wastewater utilities. \nKathy Rodgers is the owner of The Water Office\, LLC\, which provides water operations\, consulting and project management services in New England. In 2024 Kathy Rodgers and her team at The Water Office\, LLC completed over 100 service line inventories for public water systems in Maine\, including 4 Tribal systems. To ensure compliance was achieved with the Lead and Copper Rule Revision for Lead Service Line Inventory (LCRR LSLI)\, Kathy and her team developed outreach materials and utilized many tools to complete the inventories including: GIS mapping of service connections\, onsite digitization and review of historical records\, website publication of the LCRR LSLI results and data capture method for ongoing updates to ensure the accuracy of data. From operating to advocating\, Kathy has held a wide range of roles in the water industry since 2005. DESCRIPTION:Dear Tribal Leader\,\n\nThe Government Performance and Results Modernization Act of 2010 (GPRAMA) requires federal agencies to publish a strategic plan one year after a presidential inauguration and to annually track the agencies performance in implementing the plan.\n\nThe Department of the Interior (the Department or Interior) is preparing to release its Fiscal Year (FY) 2026–2030 Strategic Plan in October 2025. The strategic plan outlines the Department’s strategic goals\, objectives\, and strategies for the next four years. The FY 2026-2030 Strategic Plan may look a bit different than in years past as it will be more streamlined in length and presented at a very high level. Federal agencies will be developing shorter strategic plans to support the Administration’s goal of providing clear and concise documents to the American public.\n\nInterior is committed to working in partnership with Tribal Nations to ensure the outcomes in the plan are meaningful and valuable to Tribal communities. To support this collaboration\, the Department will host a series of virtual consultation sessions from June 16-26\, 2025. These sessions will provide Tribal leaders the opportunity to offer input on the strategic goals and objectives\, and to recommend performance measures and areas of learning. Feedback received will help inform the final plan.\n\nWe invite you to participate in this important dialogue and help shape the Department’s path forward.
