The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (SRMT) partnered with Nation-to-Nation (N2N) Disaster Relief to sponsor a Donation Drive to assist those affected by the recent hurricanes. The donation drive was held on Friday, September 15th and Saturday, September 16th in the SRMT Police Department parking lot located at 545 State Route 37 in Akwesasne. All money and items collected will be sent to the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe, with tribal members in both Texas and Louisiana, to aid impacted individuals and families.

After hearing about Tunica-Biloxi’s need through USET and the Tribe’s GoFundMe page, a grassroots organization worked with the SRMT, local Akwesasne businesses and the community, to organize a donation drive in less than a week. Everyone pulled together to show an outpouring of support during the two day event. Young and old alike volunteered their time, their money and donated much needed items to support the Tunica-Biloxi community. In all, over $4,000 was donated and a truck load of immediate need items were collected.  It was very heartwarming to talk with community members who donated to the effort and to hear of their concern for those in need.  Nation-to-Nation, the people of Akwesasne send their prayers and good thoughts to the Tunica-Biloxi community.
