The Pequot Museum’s Educational Pow Wow is a narrated exhibition showcasing Native American dancers and the significance of this cultural gathering for indigenous people. Gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the pow wow experience and how it helps sustain a sense of community for America’s first people.

Taking place in our expansive, glass-enclosed Gathering Space, the audience can expect to see pow wow dance styles from traditional to contemporary. Men’s dance styles will include eastern war, northern and southern traditional, grass, fancy, and chicken.  For the women’s side, the dance styles will include eastern blanket, northern and southern traditional, jingle, and fancy shawl.
