USET adds Policy and Legislative Affairs Director to its team Elizabeth (Liz) Malerba named to the position

(Nashville/Washington) – – We are happy to announce the promotion of Elizabeth (Liz) Malerba, a citizen of the Mohegan Tribe of Uncasville, CT, to the position of USET Policy and Legislative Affairs Director.

In her new role, Liz will focus on advancing USET’s policy and legislative priorities as identified by the Board of Directors on Capitol Hill and with the Administration.  Additionally, Liz will serve on various workgroups at national and regional levels to provide the Board of Directors, USET Executive/Senior Leadership Staff with regular updates on any program policy changes, regulations and legislation that may require immediate attention and/or action.

I am thrilled by the knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm that Liz Malerba brings to the organization as our first ever USET Policy and Legislation Director. Her leadership in this role will ensure that the needs and priorities of the USET region are part of the national dialogue,” said USET Executive Director Kitcki Carroll.

Liz started with USET in May 2012 as Health Policy Analyst for our THPS program. Over the last two and a half years, her work has included providing comprehensive education to member Tribes on the Affordable Care Act, advancing USET’s health priorities on Capitol Hill and with the Administration, as well as work with several federal advisory committees. Prior to joining USET, Liz served as a Legislative Assistant at National Indian Health Board and in various positions within the office of Congressman John Larson (D-CT) along with the House Democratic Caucus.
