We Need Your Help!
The situation right now in the Great Plains is dire. There is a major shortage of propane that has more than doubled the cost of the fuel—fuel many in isolated homes on reservations in the region use to heat their homes.
The shortage turned deadly this week.
Earlier this week, a Native American woman in her early 50s was found frozen to death in her home in Fort Yates, North Dakota, on the Standing Rock Reservation. She had run out of propane heating fuel.
As I write this, it’s -13 degrees in Fort Yates. Right now, in reservation communities throughout the Great Plains region, people are cold, running out of fuel and are in desperate need of emergency assistance.
No one else should die because they can’t heat their home this winter.
Can you help?
The Great Plains Tribal Chairman’s Association and the National Indian Gaming Association are coming together through Spirit of Sovereignty to provide relief to tribal members in the region. Because of Spirit of Sovereignty’s longstanding tradition of supporting our communities when they need it most, we are helping by collecting funds to distribute to tribal assistance programs in the region.
No one else should die this winter from this bitter cold. Please donate now through Spirit of Sovereignty to help Native American families stay safe and warm in their homes.
