DESCRIPTION:The USET Tribal Public Health Preparedness and Resilience Task Force (Tribal PHPR) is a Tribally centered epidemiological approach to public health preparedness and resilience. Its primary goal is to strengthen the resilience of Tribal Nations in the USET region through strategies focused on mitigation\, prevention\, and preparation in the disaster management cycle.  \n\n\n\nThe Task Force also builds relationships between Tribal Nations and the USET Epidemiology Team\, creating a space to share best practices\, discuss public health strategies\, and collaborate on preparedness efforts. \n\n\n\nWhen: The first Tuesday of each month at 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Central/1:00 pm – 2:00 pm EasternMeetings will last 30-60 minutes\, depending on the topic. SUMMARY:Protecting Lives\, Strengthening Justice: Essential Victim‑Centered Policing for Tribal Law Enforcement
DESCRIPTION:Violence against Native women remains a significant public safety issue. According to the U.S. Department of the Interior- Indian Affairs Office\, more than 1.5 million American Indian and Alaska Native women have experienced violence in their lifetime. Tribal law enforcement officers report persistent challenges in identifying and responding appropriately to victims\, navigating victim reluctance to come forward\, and accessing adequate victim service resources. To address these challenges\, the National Criminal Justice Training Center in partnership with the Tribal Law and Policy Institute developed the Tribal Law Enforcement Victim Services Academy. \n\n\n\nAboutThe Tribal Law Enforcement Victim Services Academy is a 16-week virtual training designed to equip new and current law enforcement officers working in Tribal communities with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to support victims of crime using a culturally grounded\, trauma-informed\, and victim-centered approach. \n\n\n\nParticipants will gain the tools and resources needed to strengthen safety\, uphold Tribal sovereignty\, and enhance justice for victims of domestic violence\, dating violence\, sexual assault\, human trafficking\, and stalking. \n\n\n\nTime commitment for the Academy is up to 2.5 hours per week. To be approved for this Academy\, you must receive approval from your supervisor for this dedicated commitment. SUMMARY:Effective Strategies to Interview Older Victims and Document Evidence of Elder Abuse in Indian Country
DESCRIPTION:Elder abuse is a widespread public health issue that often goes unreported due to the involvement of family members\, caregivers\, or other trusted individuals. This webinar will explore effective\, victim-centered approaches to elder abuse investigations that address the unique physical\, cognitive\, emotional\, and social needs of older adults while promoting safety\, accountability\, and healing. Participants will learn about the Elder Abuse Guide for Law Enforcement (EAGLE)\, a U.S. Department of Justice–supported initiative that provides practical strategies for interviewing older victims\, documenting evidence\, and strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration. The session will also highlight culturally responsive resources from the Native American Elder Justice Initiative (NAEJI)\, developed by the International Association for Indigenous Aging\, to support elder justice efforts in Tribal communities. \n\n\n\nThis training is available to all interested parties. There is no charge to attend this training\, and CLE will not be available.

DESCRIPTION:Join the USET’s Office of Environmental Resource Management (OERM) Tribal Community Resilience Program for a series of virtual roundtable discussions on Tribal Nations’ resilience strategies\, successes\, and challenges. Each roundtable will begin with a short presentation on an environmental or community project taking place in the USET region followed by questions and open discussion for attendees to learn from one another and build community across the region. The topic of each roundtable will be announced the week before each session via social media and email. We encourage attendees to join even the sessions that may not be obviously related to their interests or duties since all facets of environmental resilience interact and discussions are enriched by diverse participants.  \n\n\n\nThese roundtables are intended exclusively for Tribal citizens and staff of Tribal Nations and Tribal organizations\, especially in the USET region\, and are not open to non-Tribal partners.
