The Kurt Grinnell Aquaculture Scholarship Foundation (KGASF) was formed in honor of the late Kurt Grinnell, a Native American leader who made many significant and meaningful contributions to Washington State’s aquaculture industry. Scholarships are awarded to young persons interested in pursuing careers in aquaculture.
KGASF provides scholarships to enrolled members of U.S. federally recognized Tribes and members of Metis, Aboriginal groups and First Nations (“First Nations”) recognized by Canada. Our goal is to help Tribal, or First Nations students or prospective students pursue careers in Aquaculture by providing financial assistance for training and education. In 2022, we awarded three scholarships of U.S. $5000 each. However, each year our goal is to award at least two scholarships with a minimum of $5,000 USD to each recipient. The number of scholarships and the amount of the awards is completely within the discretion of the KGASF. Upon request, the KGASF will also help scholarship recipients find internships to further advance their education and training.
Eligible applicants should submit a complete application (including application, supporting documents, and two letters of recommendation) no later than 11:59 PM, August 15, 2023.
