Putting the “Community” in Community Garden at Monacan Indian Nation
November 20 @ 9:00 am – 10:00 am CST
What better way to build community support for food sovereignty programs than by organizing an Elder Seed & Plant Giveaway? Monacan Indian Nation did just that as part of their USET Food Sovereignty project and cultivated many benefits. Tribal elders received seeds, plants, recipes, and medicinal information and the community garden got a boost of community support and engagement. Join the Monacan Indian Nation Food Bank to learn about their project design and the outcomes of their outreach efforts. If you’ve ever wrestled with how to get the community into the community garden, this webinar is for you.
