The Department of Energy is continuing their Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program and the next deadline is July 31 for submission of the Pre-Award Information Sheet for interested Tribal Governments. The funds are flexible across 14 possible categories for application across communities, not just for government buildings and facilities. Tribal Nations have each been allocated a minimum of $10,000.

Tribal Government applicants can choose to apply for either grants or vouchers, which have more limited applications but also less paperwork and reporting. Either funding mechanism can be used for hiring technical assistance (policy, planning, engineering, modeling, community engagement, etc.) or equipment rebates (retrofits including HVAC, windows, insulation; electric vehicles and charging stations; new renewable energy sources or meters; etc.).

DOE hosted a webinar and have shared their slides providing more details on how Tribal Nations may utilize this formula funding (Note: these materials refer to an April 28 deadline for the information sheet which has been extended to July 31). The main EECBG webpage offers additional webinar recordings including those focused on the grant and voucher options.
