The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) completed their first Climate Change Strategic Plan in 2013 and recently released an updated multimedia version of that plan via Esri StoryMaps. The StoryMap has five sections focusing on the history and previous work of the Séliš, Ql̓ispé, and Ksanka peoples; forestry; water; fish; and wildlife; with more chapters to be added in the future. It features written information, images, and maps, along with audio recordings from Tribal citizens and interactive components. In this way, it serves as a living document to illustrate the challenges and strategies CSKT faces with increasing climate change and drought on their lands. Esri awarded the team with their Esri Native Nations Traditional Ecological Knowledge Award. This plan serves as an excellent example for documenting and engaging community members important perspectives in climate change planning.
