In early November 2022, USET Climate Program staff met with Jennifer Ballinger, the new Tribal Relations Specialist for Northern Research Station and the Forest Products Laboratory of the United States Forest Service. USET staff discussed future collaborations and ways that the USFS, Tribal Relations program, and the Northern Research Station can support the work that USET is engaged in with Tribal Nations.
During the conversation, Jennifer discussed two other new Tribal Relation Specialist positions that were filled with the USFS eastern region on November 7. Kira Kaufmann will work in the midwest area of the eastern region, while Paul Cloutier will work in the northeast and mid-Atlantic areas, which align with a large portion of the USET region.
