Technical assistance is provided at no-cost by experts from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy, DOE’s national laboratories, and other partnering organizations. Recently, the Office added legal technical assistance to their offerings, which can support advancing new projects, evaluating project proposals, developing regulatory frameworks, building capacity of Tribal governments, and more. Assistance with energy planning, efficiency assessments, resources assessments, project planning, and utility formation will continue to be offered for both Tribal governments and other Tribal entities. Legal technical assistance, provided through the US Dept. of Commerce Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), is available only for federally recognized Tribal governments, not intertribal organizations or Tribally-chartered entities or organizations. Assistance can be requested by email, either to the CLDP for legal technical assistance or the Office of Indian Energy for other types of assistance. Learn more on the OIE technical assistance webpage.
