In September of 2025, the Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center (SE CASC) held their 3rd Regional Science Symposium in Asheville, NC. All three SE CASC Symposia have featured presentations and attendees from USET Member Tribal Nations, but participation peaked in 2025, and will hopefully continue to grow! Learn more about the event through the recap page.

Staff from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians provided a welcome to Cherokee homelands, co-led a breakout session with USET staff, presented in an additional session, and hosted Symposium participants on a field trip. The field trip featured a tour of the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, time in the Qualla Arts Center, a tour of the EBCI Fish Hatchery, and a future river restoration site (see pictures below; courtesy of Maira Brondizio, SE CASC).

Staff from two other USET Founding Tribal Nations, the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, also shared their time through participation and presentations in several sessions. Last, USET member Tribal Nation staff were invited to a lunch with the USET Community Resilience Liaison and SE CASC leadership to build relationships and better understand opportunities for future partnership and support. USET’s partnership with the SE CASC through both the Community Resilience program and membership in the SE CASC consortium was strengthened throughout the event.
