During the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been reports of individuals expressing symptoms of COVID long after testing negative. After time and effort to bring this to the scientific community, Long COVID is a growing definition of signs, symptoms and/or conditions that continue to exist or develop after the initial infection and recovery of COVID-19.
As is often the case with newly described illnesses, this one has many different names: Long COVID, Post-COVID Conditions (PCC), long-haul COVID, post-acute COVID-19, long-term effects of COVID, Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS CoV-2 Infection (PASC), and chronic COVID.
If you think that you or a family member may be suffering from Long COVID, talk to your healthcare provider about your symptoms. As more becomes known about the condition, there will be more effective treatment.
