Abandoned Hardrock Mine Reclamation Program Tribal Consultations

The U.S. Department of the Interior is seeking tribal feedback and recommendations on a draft grant solicitation entitled “Abandoned Hardrock Mine Reclamation (AHMR) Program Tribal Grant Directed Announcement, May 2025.” Funding for Abandoned Hardrock Mine Reclamation (AHMR) on tribal lands will be distributed through a grant program managed by the Environmental Compliance and Cleanup Division (ECCD). The Department of the Interior will provide grants to reclaim those lands based on eligibility requirements established in Sec. 40704 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the AHMR Program. Grants will be available to Tribal Nations to inventory, assess, decommission, reclaim, respond to hazardous substance releases on, and remediate hardrock (non-coal) abandoned mines. AHMR Grants are subject to funding availability.
Consultations are scheduled for two online sessions:
- Session 1: Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. ET
- Session 2: Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. ET
