July 13 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm CDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on July 13, 2021 at 1:00 pm

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is assessing the impacts of moving of the BLM Headquarters (HQ), including various functions and staff, to Grand Junction, Colorado, as well as moving most positions that were stationed in Washington, DC to various offices in the West. These moves were directed in July 2019 by the Trump Administration, and concerns have since been raised about impacts to BLM and its programs.

Alternatively, you are invited to provide written comment on this topic to consultation@blm.gov by July 16, 2021.

The BLM is seeking the following information on the location and restructuring of BLM HQ functions, including how to optimize BLM services provided to you:

  1. In what ways does the location of BLM HQ impact Tribes, Alaska Natives, and Tribal corporations?
  2. In what ways have services to Tribes, Alaska Natives, or Tribal corporations changed and/or remained the same since BLM HQ’s move out West in late-2019? How can services be improved?
  3. Are there concerns for how restructuring the BLM HQ and other key positions across the West has impacted services provided to Tribes, Alaska Natives, or Tribal corporations?
  4. Are there additional relevant issues you would like to raise that BLM should consider in its review of the function of BLM HQ and other positions that were transferred out of Washington, DC?

The BLM points of contact for this project are Danna Jackson (available by phone at (406) 422-9154 or by email at djackson@blm.gov) and Byron Loosle (available by phone at (202) 302-1442 or by email at bloosle@blm.gov).
