Continuing the Conversation on Decolonizing Tourism

October 13 @ 10:30 am 12:00 pm CDT

Dear ITCA Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to join us on Indigenous Peoples’ Day – Monday, October 13, 2025, for the next public dialogue hosted by the Indigenous Tourism Collaborative of the Americas (ITCA).

This year marks the second installment in our series of dialogues that began with last year’s event, “Indigenous Driven Tourism: Putting Colonization in the Rear View through Autonomy and Partnership.” Building on that foundation, this session will move from principle to practice—exploring what it truly means to decolonize tourism through Indigenous leadership, ownership, and community-driven strategies.

Featured Speakers

  • Keynote: Dr. Michael Yellow Bird, Dean & Professor, University of Manitoba – leading scholar and author on decolonization
  • Panelists:
    • Sue Noe, Senior Staff Attorney, Native American Rights Fund
    • Jean-Philippe Le Moigne, International Consultant in Indigenous Tourism
    • Seleni Matus, Executive Director, GW International Institute of Tourism Studies
  • Moderator: Edward Hall, Indigenous Tourism and Economic Development Executive in Residence, George Washington University

We hope you will join us for this important and timely dialogue that continues to chart a path toward more equitable and sustainable tourism across the Americas.
