United South and Eastern Tribes
Office of Environmental Resource Management presents

Cross Connection Control and
Backflow Prevention Awareness Webinar

Rescheduled for May 12

Every water system, no matter the location, has the possibility of cross connections. Cross connections are where untreated contaminants can enter your water system. It might be the customer spraying insecticide through their water hose, or the factory down the street treating cyanide. Learn how cross connections can be found and how to protect your water system from potential threats. This webinar will give a broad overview of backflow prevention and the devices used, as well as the basics of setting up a testing program.

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define a cross connection and the types of backflows.
  • Identify the two types of hazard degrees and how they affect the water system.
  • List the 13 different styles of backflow prevention devices and the uses of each.
  • Identify what is needed to start up and run a successful backflow prevention and cross connection control program.

Tribal Leaders, Tribal Utility Leaders, and Tribal Utility Workers are invited to attend. Continuing education credits will be provided.

Register for the webinar.
