IHS and USET Joint Virtual Training: Understanding the Regulation: 42 CFR Part 2 and Its Implications

On July 15, 2020, a final rule revising the federal regulations governing the Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder Patient Records, 42 CFR Part 2, was released by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The rule went into effect on August 14, 2020. IHS and the USET Tribal Health Program Support staff are hosting a training to review the 45 CFR part 2 and its implications.

Who Should Attend: Tribal Nation health directors, clinic staff, counselors, social workers, physicians, nurses, Tribal Epidemiology Center staff, and anyone working in the health/substance use/behavioral health sector are welcome to join.

When: November 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm Central

After the virtual training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the two requirements of CFR42, Part 2 as it relates to the release of patient information.
  • Name two exceptions to the rules regulating release of patient information.

Continuing Education Credits: Up to 1.5 hour CME, CNE, social work credit, or counseling credit will be awarded
