Informational Webinar: What you should know about the State Tribal Education Partnership (STEP) Program

The U.S. Department of Education (the Department) recently updated its Grant Forecast webpage to include the STEP program and invites you to an upcoming informational webinar to learn more about the program. STEP is authorized under Section 6132 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). These grants are designed to support Indian Tribes with their education administrative planning, development, and coordination, such as:

  • Promoting Tribal self-determination in education;
  • Improving the academic achievement of Indian children and youth; and
  • Promoting the coordination and collaboration of Tribal Education Agencies (TEAs) with State Education Agencies (SEAs), and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to meet the unique education and culturally related academic needs of Indian students.

This informational webinar will explore the following requirements:

  • Statutory purpose
  • Eligible entities
  • Regulated priorities (88 FR 27410)
  • Allowable activities
