The purpose of this meeting is to convene NACIE and conduct the following business: discussion of bylaws and charter; taking action to establish meeting calendar and subcommittees; discussion of recommendations to be provided to the Secretary of Interior and Secretary of Education, including the U.S. Department of Education’s budget request; discussion of annual report action item follow-up; and discussion of invited federal partner updates, e.g., U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Native Americans and Strengthening Tribal Colleges and Universities (Initiative) in accordance with Section 3 of Executive Order 14049, U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, and similar programs.
