NICWA January 2026 Training Institute
January 27, 2026 – January 29, 2026 CST
The National Indian Child Welfare Association’s (NICWA) Foundations of Tribal Child Welfare Casework Practice is designed for individuals working throughout the Tribal child welfare system. Newer advocates in this field will become familiar with the basic elements of these practices, while experienced workers can consider this a refresher and opportunity to stay up to date on best practices.
The training dives into the daily processes and duties in Tribal child welfare, covering topics such as engaging and assessing families using the Relational Worldview Model, best practices for court preparation including writing reports and providing testimony, children and family engagement, utilizing supervision for success in serving families, and basic case management unique to Tribal workers.
