OMB, in coordination with HHS, is consulting with Tribes on the President’s proposal to transition IHS funding from discretionary to mandatory beginning in FY 2025. The change in funding approach would involve use of a mandatory funding formula, and the incremental growth of the IHS budget to approximately $44 billion by FY 2033.
The virtual consultation will take place on June 2 from 2:00 – 5:00pm ET. OMB has prepared a trio of discussion points for Tribal leader feedback that are set forth in the attached Dear Tribal Leader Letter.
