In November 2021, NOAA Fisheries sought early input from the Tribes on developing an Equity and Environmental Justice Strategy. In early May, we shared the draft Strategy with you, and we are currently in an open comment period (see email included below). We will be hosting a regional webinar on September 21 from 3-4 pm ET to provide you with information on what we heard last November, how this was considered in the draft Strategy, and to further introduce you to the draft Strategy. We will then open it up to hear your feedback on the Strategy. Written comments received by September 30 will have the most impact in developing the final Strategy.
