DOJ Drug Enforcement Administration Consultation on Prescribing Controlled Substances via Telemedicine
April 22 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm CDT
Dear Tribal Leader:
We are pleased to invite you to a government-to-government consultation with the Department of Justice’s Drug Enforcement Administration regarding a final rule on Special Registration for the Prescribing of Controlled Substances via telemedicine. Please see the attached framing paper for more information about the focus of this consultation.
Please note that the consultation discussions will be closed to the press. The consultation discussions will be held virtually as follows:
- Wednesday, April 22, 2026, 3-5 PM EST
- Thursday, April 23, 2026, 3-5 PM EST
If you are interested in attending, please register1 by 5pm Eastern on April 21, 2026.
We strongly encourage written comments, which will be accepted until May 8, 2026. Because this consultation is associated with formal rulemaking processes we are bound to a shorter timeline than Department of Justice consultations generally follow. Tribal feedback on this final rule is very important and we hope you are able to contribute to the discussions and submit written comments.
Please submit comments by email to OTJ@usdoj.gov, or by mail to:
