Social Media Fundamentals for Criminal Investigators

This webinar presentation, led by the ATF’s National Firearms Trafficking Center, will cover foundational knowledge and skills to effectively leverage social media platforms in support of criminal investigations, intelligence gathering, and threat assessments. The webinar will discuss how social media data can supplement traditional investigative and analytical techniques, as well as what can and what cannot be done as it pertains to social media exploitation. Presentation topics will include the following:
•What is OSINT and SOCINT and the Internet
•Account Identification
•OPSEC – controlling information leakage
•Setting up Devices
•Creating Accounts
•Documentation of Findings
This training is restricted to federal, state, and Tribal prosecutors, law enforcement and intelligence analysts employed by a law enforcement agency . There is no charge to attend this webinar. CLE will not be provided.
