National Indian Country Training Initiative Online Training: Introduction to Crime Gun Intelligence (CGI)

An introduction to the concept of Crime Gun Intelligence, beginning with a high-level overview of ATF’s National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) and eTrace programs.  This block of instruction will cover how the investigation of a firearm can produce investigative leads, with the overall goal of identifying and prosecuting shooters and the sources of Crime Guns.  A discussion on the topic of Crime Gun Intelligence Centers (CGICs) will be introduced, covering the foundational concepts of a successful CGI program.

This training is a joint effort hosted by federal law enforcement agencies responding to violent crime in Indian Country. Sponsoring agencies include the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Indian Country Training Initiative, the United States Indian Police Academy, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Department of the Interior’s Office of Law Enforcement and Security’s Victim Assistance Program.
