Being Aware: PFAS, the Emerging Contaminant

Per- and Polyfluoralkyl Substances, commonly referred to as PFAS, have been classified as emerging contaminants in drinking and surface waters by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). An “emerging contaminant” is a chemical or material that is characterized by a potential or real threat to human health or the environment. Come learn more about this emerging contaminant and how to be proactive at the local level when PFAS is detected.

Who Should Attend: Any Tribal utility personnel

Participants will walk away with answers to the following questions:

  • What are PFAS?
  • Where does it come from?
  • Who should be concerned?
  • Why is it a “Forever Chemical”?
  • What do we do moving forward?

Attendees will be awarded one CEU for attending this one hour class.
