USET THPS – Motivational Interviewing to Address COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy in Tribal Communities Webinar

April 20, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm CDT

Motivational Interviewing to Address COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy in Tribal Communities
presented by
USET Tribal Health Program Support

With so much misinformation circulating in the media, it can be hard for people to feel confident that receiving a COVID-19 vaccine is the right choice for them. Many of us know firsthand the difficulty of discussing this highly polarized topic, especially when those conversations are with close friends or family members. One technique that may be helpful to facilitating these conversations is Motivational Interviewing (MI). MI is an evidence-based skill that can be used to guide individuals towards positive behavior change by tapping into their intrinsic motivation for said change. MI has been used in clinical and non-clinical settings, including for medication adherence, healthy eating, and even for improving communication in parent-child relationships. While this training is focused on using MI to overcome hesitancy towards COVID-19 vaccination, our hope is that you will be able to use these skills in other areas as well.
