Monkeypox

On November 28, 2022, the World Health Organization released the new preferred term "Mpox," which will replace “Monkeypox.” The name change aims to eliminate racist, stigmatizing language that circulated during the 2022 outbreak. This decision comes after consultation with a variety of experts, countries, and the general public, all of which had the opportunity to suggest alternative names. This name change will take place over the next year.
